/ Welcome to Webhosting!

Here you can find the most important steps to take if you want to optimise the use of your webhosting package. Keep the following in mind:

  • Essential steps are important steps to take when building your website. We advise you to follow these steps if you don't know how to implement them yet.
  • Optional steps help you to activate useful features in your hosting package that allow you to adjust default settings. Some steps are only recommended for users with more experience due to their technical nature. But don't worry; your webhosting package also works perfectly with the default settings.

1. (Essential) Finish your account profile

Finish up your account profile with personal information and contact information or VAT-details for business accounts. Recommended for all users.

2. (Essential) Install your CMS

CMS stands for Content Management System, such as WordPress or Joomla. This is a must-have feature to create and manage content on your website. Recommended for all users.

3. (Optional) Migrate your existing website

Do you have an already existing website that is hosted elsewhere? You can migrate it to a webhosting package at TransIP in no time.

4. (Optional) Activate & forward email

Your webhosting package comes with free email inboxes. Learn how to create email addresses to go with your domain name and how you can forward incoming email to a different email address, like your Gmail or Outlook account.
Highly recommended for all users.

5. (Optional) Optimisation

There are a couple of quick wins when it comes to optimising your hosting.

6. (Optional) Adding an additional website to your webhosting package

The Pro- and Max webhosting packages give you the option to host multiple websites on one webhosting package. Apart from additional websites on subdomains, you can also host websites for other domain names.

7. (Optional) Adding a domain alias to your webhosting package

A domain alias is a way to add an additional (sub)domain to an existing website on your webhosting package. This means that visitors to the added alias see the exact same website as the main domain.

For example, you may have a website active on examplewebsite.nl. If you add examplewebsite.com as an alias, examplewebsite.com will display the same website as examplewebsite.nl.

8. (Optional) Aftercare activities

These are useful steps to improve the security of your hosting package (such as the use of back-ups, malware detection and more).

9. (Optional) Advanced settings

Adjust the settings of your PHP and DNS and use SSH.

Only recommended for experienced users.
