On this page, you will find all the information about .amsterdam domains that you register with TransIP. Please note that different registrars may have different procedures. If your domain is not registered with TransIP, please consult your own domain registrar.
Registration
- A .amsterdam domain can contain a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 63 characters.
- Emojis are not available for .nl domains. The use of special characters/punycode is also not possible.
- .amsterdam domain registrations are annual and are automatically renewed at the end of the registration period of a year.
- A .amsterdam domain can not be transferred for 60 days after registration.
Transfers
- Transferring a .nl domain always requires a transfer code, which can always be requested at your current registrar. More information about transferring your domain name can be found here.
- When a transfer is started, the owner of the domain will receive an email which can be used to cancel or confirm the transfer. If the owner neither confirms nor cancels, the transfer will take place after 5 days.
WHOIS
- Valid WHOIS data is necessary for registrant email verification. You can change this data following the steps in this Knowledge Base article.
- If the email verification is not successfully completed within 14 days, the domain will not be accessible until verification is done.
- Email verification is per email address and not per domain. This means that if you have multiple domains with the same email address, you only need to perform the verification once.
Other
- When you cancel a .amsterdam domain name, the domain enters a Quarantine period (also known as 'Redemption period') for 40 days. During these 40 days, the domain can still be restored. After the 40-day period, the domain becomes available for registration again.
- The registry charges fees for reactivating a domain, which we have to pass on to you.
