How to Increase the Size of Your Volume via the OpenStack Dashboard Horizon

In this guide, we explain how to change the size of a volume via the OpenStack dashboard ‘Horizon’.

It is not possible to reduce the size of a volume. We recommend the following alternatives:

    • Create a new volume with the desired size and copy your data to the new volume.
    • Use a snapshot of the volume to create a new volume with the desired size.

    Step 1

Log in to the OpenStack Dashboard ‘Horizon.

    Step 2

In the menu on the left, click ‘Volumes’ and then click ‘Volumes’ again. Under ‘Actions’, open the drop-down menu and select ‘Extend Volume’.

    Step 3

A new window will appear where you can adjust the size. Under ‘New Size’, enter the desired size of your volume and click ‘Extend Volume’.

You will automatically be redirected to the ‘Volumes’ overview (see Step 2), where the change will be visible.

This concludes our guide on how to increase the size of an OpenStack volume.
