This article applies to the following gTLD domain extensions: .COM, .ORG, .NET, .INFO, .BIZ, which are registered with TransIP through REGISTER S.P.A.. Under Step 1 in this article, you'll find how to check this.
Keeping the registrant information of your domain name accurate and up to date is not only important for administrative reasons, WHOIS data is used for various purposes. In the article ‘What is WHOIS?’ you’ll find more information about this.
Incorrect information may result in your domain becoming unreachable. For example, your domain may become unreachable if your email address is not verified. In some cases, double confirmation is also required to change your registrant information.
These two issues combined can initially make it seem impossible to make your domain reachable again. In this article, we explain what you can do in this case.
Step 1
To be sure, first check via WHOIS who the registrar is for your .COM, .ORG, .NET, .INFO, or .BIZ domain name:
- If you see ‘Key-Systems GmbH’ listed next to Registrar, you can change the email address via your control panel. Follow the steps in the article ‘Changing the registrant details of your domain name’.
- If you see ‘REGISTER S.P.A.’ listed next to Registrar, then a confirmation email will first be sent to the current email address in the registrant information when changing the registrant. If this email address is not accessible, you will not be able to receive/confirm this email, and therefore will not be able to change the registrant information yourself. In this case, a manual registrant change is required.
Step 2
Download this form (after opening, click Save in the top right) and fill it out with the correct information.
When filling out the form, pay close attention to the following:
- The Prior Registrant Data must match the current registrant information. You can check this by navigating to your domain name in your control panel and then clicking the gear icon next to ‘Your domain contact information’.
- For both the Prior Registrant and New Registrant, use the first and last name (no nicknames, initials, or multiple first names).
- The registry does not accept digital signatures, so make sure the form is signed with handwritten signatures.
Add a copy of the ID of the current and new registrant. Make sure to obscure your photo and BSN (citizen service number). Is the registrant a company? Then also include Chamber of Commerce documents showing who is authorized to sign.
Once completed, you can send the form and the accompanying documents to our Support department. This can be done via the ‘Contact’ button in your control panel or at the bottom of this page via the ‘Contact us’ button. They can then process the request for you.
To prevent future issues, it is important to check your Default WHOIS details. These are applied when registering new domain names in your account. You can find more information about this in the article ‘Default settings for domain names’.
