How do I install an SSL-certificate for HA-IP?

HA-IP offers the possibility for a 'HTTPS-mode' in which it will forward HTTPS traffics including the original headers / information. To do so it is necessary to install an SSL certificate for the service or domain that needs to be reached via HTTPS.

To do so you can use a new & free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt. The following steps need to be performed in the control panel:

  1. Go to the BladeVPS tab in the control panel and click on the name of your HA-IP (do not check the box) for which you want to install the SSL certificate.

  2. Scrol to SSL certificates on the right hand side of your screen.

  3. Select Add SSL Certificates to your HA-IP.

  4. Now select the domain (or subdomain) for which you want to add an SSL certificate to HA-IP.
    • Do you want to use a specific domain that's registered via TransIP and is using our nameservers? Then select your domain behind Domain name and click on Choose Domain in order to create an SSL certificate for that domain.

    • Do you want to use a specific subdomain that's registered via TransIP and is using our nameservers? Then select your domain behind Domain name and click on Choose Subdomain. You will now be prompted to enter the desired subdomain. Select Choose Subdomain in order to create an SSL certificate for that subdomain.

    • Do you want to use an externally registered domain or a domain that uses other nameservers? In that case Let's Encrypt-certificates are current unavailable for HA-IP. If you want to have this added in the nearby future, please enter this as a suggestion via 'Contact' > 'My idea' in the control panel.

  5. The SSL certificate will now be created and installed in the background! An overview is displayed of the DNS settings that are being added to the DNS of your (sub)domain.

  6. Once finished you will see the certificate in the 'Attached' overview where you can detach it should you no longer want an SSL certificate for that specific (sub)domain.

  7. You can now use the HTTPS mode for your HA-IP / domain!
