In this guide, we explain step by step how to set up your TransIP email address in the Outlook app on your device.
Don't have an email address yet? With the Email Only packages and web hosting packages from TransIP, you can easily create email addresses.
To use email via our web hosting packages and Email Only packages, it’s important that your domain name uses the correct DNS settings.
If your domain name uses the TransIP settings, this happens automatically. If you manage the DNS of your domain yourself, make sure to use the MX, TXT, and CNAME records from your web hosting package.

Setting up your email address in Outlook on an Android device
First, open the 'Outlook' app on your smartphone.
- If you haven’t set up an email address on your device yet, you can add one immediately by clicking ‘Add Account’.
- Have you already set up an email address in the 'Outlook' app? Then go to 'Settings', followed by 'Accounts', and then click on ‘Add Account’.
Step 1
Enter your email address and click on ‘Continue’.
Step 2
Now select the type of email account. Choose ‘IMAP’.
IMAP or POP3?
In this example, we use IMAP to set up the email address. When using the IMAP protocol, a copy is downloaded from the mail server. The email itself remains on the server, allowing you to use your email address on multiple devices.
The alternative is the somewhat outdated POP3 protocol. Here, emails are downloaded directly from the server. Although some email programs offer the option to leave a copy on the server, the POP3 protocol generally forces you to use one email program.

Step 3
First enter your password, then click at the bottom on ‘Advanced settings’. Don’t remember your email password? Reset it using the steps in the article 'I want to change the password of my email address'.
Fill in the incoming server settings under IMAP Incoming Email Server:
- IMAP Host Name: Enter imap.transip.email.
- Port: Enter 993.
- Security type: Select SSL/TLS.
- IMAP Username: Enter your email address.
- IMAP Password: Enter your email password.
And fill in the outgoing server settings under SMTP Outgoing Email Server:
- SMTP Host Name: Enter smtp.transip.email.
- Port: Enter 465.
- Security type: Select SSL/TLS.
- SMTP Username: Enter your email address.

SMTP Password: Enter your email password.
Once everything is filled in, click the check mark in the top right to add the email account.
Your email address is now successfully set up. You can now use your email address via the 'Outlook' application for Android!
