In this guide, we will walk you through step-by-step how to set up your TransIP email address in the Gmail app on your device.
Don't have an email address yet? With the E-mail Only packages and web hosting packages from TransIP, you can easily create email addresses.
To use email via our web hosting packages and E-mail Only packages, it is important that your domain name uses the correct DNS settings.
If your domain name uses the TransIP settings, this happens automatically. If you manage the DNS of your domain name yourself, make sure to use the MX, TXT, and CNAME records from your web hosting package.

Setting up your email address in Gmail on an Android device
First, open the 'Gmail' app on your smartphone.
- If you haven't set up an email address on your device before, you can add an email account directly by clicking on ‘Add an email address’.
- Have you previously created an email address in the 'Gmail' app? Then go to 'Settings' in the app, followed by 'Add account'.

Now indicate the type of email account. Choose 'Other', as shown in the image below.

Enter your email address and click ‘Next’.

Now choose 'Personal (IMAP)'.
IMAP or POP3?
In this example, we are using IMAP to set up the email address. When using the IMAP protocol, a copy is downloaded from the mail server. The email itself remains on the server, allowing you to use your email address on multiple devices.
The alternative is the somewhat outdated POP3 protocol. With POP3, emails are downloaded directly from the server. Although some email programs allow you to leave a copy on the server, the POP3 protocol usually forces you to use a single email program.

Step 4
First, enter your password and click ‘Next’. Don’t remember your email password? Then reset it using the steps in the article 'I want to change the password of my email address'.
Next, enter the settings for the incoming server.
- Username: Enter your email address.
- Password: Enter the password of your email address.

Server: Enter imap.transip.email.
Step 5
Then enter the settings for the outgoing server.
- Username: Enter your email address.
- Password: Enter the password of your email address.
- SMTP Server: Enter smtp.transip.email.
Now press 'Next' to add the email account.
You’ll now be shown some preference options and be able to specify the account name and sender name.
After that, your email address is successfully set up. You can now use your email address via the 'Gmail' application for Android!
