Secret management for Public Cloud

Keep your secrets secret

Secure sensitive data such as passwords, API keys and digital certificates with secret management based on Barbican. Encrypt traffic between clients and servers with HPTTS, securely store the data on your volumes and protect key/value pairs. OpenStack Barbican is a powerful tool for these kinds of security issues.

REST API

OpenStack Barbican offers a special REST API, specifically designed to safely handle your most essential data elements. It is designed to safely store, provision and manage secrets such as passwords, encryption keys and X.509 certificates; all crucial for maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of your data in the cloud.

Combine with a load balancer

OpenStack Octavia allows you to build a highly available load balancer. If you're looking to encrypt the HTTP traffic moving through the load balancer with a certificate, you can store private keys, intermediate and server certificates in Barbican and have them requested by Octavia. When you create, reboot or update an Octavia Load Balancer, Octavia will request these certificates from Barbican automatically.

Encrypted volumes

Barbican can also be used to manage volume storage (Cinder) encryption keys. LUKS is used to encrypt the data on the disks connected to your instances. The keys for the disk encryption are automatically generated by Cinder and securely stored in Barbican. This feature is only available for new volumes.
