Why OpenStack Connect?

OpenStack Connect is more than just a site-to-site VPN. OpenStack Connect offers a number of advantages over a VPN:

Point-to-point routing

The connection isn't routed over the internet, but point-to-point. That makes, for example, DDoS attacks impossible and makes traffic a lot harder to intercept. This is especially useful for sensitive data.

Low latency

OpenStack Connect creates a direct connection, which keeps latency low and bandwith steady. For time critical applications like VoIP, this is very important.

Multi-cloud

OpenStack Connect can be connected to Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services. When you are connecting your production environment to one of these public clouds, we will always recommend to use a direct connection.

This is how OpenStack Connect works

Besides the public IPv4- and IPv6 networks, you will receive an additional network within your OpenStack project that you can use to transport services. Through the network policies, you can decide what traffic, from which server, through what ports, can use OpenStack Connect.
