There may be times when you want to download individual emails, for example to provide them as evidence when reporting spam. Every major email client supports this option, and downloading emails is usually straightforward.
In this article we explain how to download an email when using Gmail, Outlook, the Mail app for macOS, Thunderbird and TransIP Webmail.
Gmail
Sign in to Gmail and open the email you want to download. Click the ellipsis button (…) at the top right and select ‘Download message’ / ‘Download bericht’. You’ll then be able to download the message.

Outlook
Open Outlook and open the email you want to download. Click the ellipsis button (…) at the top right and select ‘Downloaden’ > ‘Downloaden als EML’. You can ignore any warnings that the .EML file might harm your computer.

Alternatively, in your message list you can right-click the email and select ‘Downloaden’.
The macOS Mail app
Open the Mail app and select the email you'd like to download. Next, click ‘Archive’ > 'Export as PDF'.

Please note: In older versions of MacOS you may have to click on ‘File’ > ‘Save as’ instead of ‘Archive’.
Thunderbird
Open Thunderbird, right-click the email you want to download, and select ‘Save As…’. You’ll then be prompted to save the file to your computer.

TransIP Webmail
Sign in at https://transip.email with your email address. Once signed in, open the email you want to download. Click the ellipsis button (…) and select ‘Download…’ > ‘Source (.eml)’.
