Volumes for Public Cloud

Volumes

Our block storage is based on the Cinder component, which allows you to make volumes and connect these to your instances. Choose from generic volumes, including triple data replication for daily use, high IOPS-volumes for optimised application performance or volumes for data archiving. Manage your volumes through your Horizon dashboard or the OpenStack API.

Performance

The new Performance-Y1 storage is suitable for applications that require high speeds, with a maximum of 6,000 IOPS. This NetApp volume is especially suitable for companies that require fast and efficient storage for demanding applications, such as database solutions. These volumes are also highly available, in part thanks to advanced RAID settings on the NetApp machines.

General

General volumes are ideal for daily uses such as website or application hosting, based on Ceph. Choose your volumes based on SSD or NVMe and enjoy 3x data storage for optimal redundancy.

Archive

Archive volumes are perfect for longterm storage and seldomly requested data. This allows the storage of large volumes of data at a lower cost. Use them for, for example, backups or historical data for analyses. Archive volumes are scalable, durable and cost efficient, making them the ideal choice for companies that want to manage storage costs without sacrificing data integrity. Our archive volumes are based on Ceph.

New in Public Cloud:

Volume backups

If you want to be absolutely sure your business knows no downtime, data backups that are easy to restore are essential. With OpenStack, best practice is to connect volumes to your instances. With Volume Backups, you minimise the risk of data loss, as well as easily create and restore your backups. You also create data redundancy, making sure your data will never go missing.

Encrypted volumes

Create a new volume, and encrypt it right away. We use Linux Unified Key Setup (LUKS) for this. The encryption keys are generated automatically and safely stored in the secret manager. When you connect an encrypted volume to an instance, the instance will retrieve the key from the key manager, Barbican.

Discover OpenStack for 30 days

We believe that the transfer to OpenStack should be a well-thought-out choice. That's why we offer the first 30 days of OpenStack and the instances you use for free.

Signing up for the trial period is easy: you only need a TransIP account. If you don't have one yet, you'll only be charged a € 1.- verification fee.

Why Public Cloud?

  • Scalable: from the smallest website to the biggest platform.
  • Control: you are at the reigns.
  • Freedom: add all the servers and load balancers you will ever need.
  • Pay-as-you-use: only pay for what you use, by the hour.
