License per user vs per core:
Microsoft distinguishes its licenses between licenses per user and per 2 CPU cores:
- Per user: The price of the license is calculated per person using the corresponding software.
- Per 2 cores: The price of the license is calculated for every 2 CPU cores your VPS has. An X8 (which has 4 CPU cores) using MS SQL 2016 standard for example would cost €350,- ex VAT (€423,50 inc VAT) per month (2 x €175 ex VAT inc €211,75 per 2 cores).
