Let's Encrypt for Webhosting

The importance of using SSL Certificates for websites grows each day. In an upcoming update, Google Chrome will mark websites without an SSL Certificate as 'unsafe'. Websites that do use an SSL Certificate will also end up higher in the search results of search engines.

Let's Encrypt

Let's Encrypt enables you to use a free SSL Certificate with your New Webhosting product. An SSL Certificate ensures a secured connection between your website and its visitors. This way data that is transmitted from and to your website will be encrypted.

The Let's Encrypt Certificates are only usable on the New Webhosting products and are issued based on Domain Validation. Using this type of Certificate will show a secured green lock inside the address bar of your browser.

How do I enable Let's Encrypt?

When ordering a New Webhosting product, Let's Encrypt will be automatically enabled for you.

In order to enable Let's Encrypt on an already existing New Webhosting product, please follow the steps below:

  • Log on to your control panel and click on the tab 'Domain & Hosting'.
  • Select the domain you want to use Let's Encrypt with (don't check the box).
  • Scroll down to 'SSL Security' and click on 'Choose Let's Encrypt'.

Choose Let's Encrypt

  • Slide the bar next to 'Status' from 'Off' to 'On' and hit 'Save'

Activate Let's Encrypt

Your Let's Encrypt SSL Certificate will now be automatically installed on your New webhosting product. Your website will be secured within a matter of minutes.

Can I disable Let's Encrypt?

If you do not wish to use Let's Encrypt, you can disable it by sliding the bar next to 'Status' back to 'Off' and hitting 'Save' once more.

Does Let's Encrypt also work for subdomains?

Every subdomain you have created within your New Webhosting product will automatically make use of Let's Encrypt, unless Let's Encrypt is disabled.

Does my Let's Encrypt SSL Certificate expire?

We automatically renew your Let's Encrypt Certificate, no action from your side is required.

I'm using a New Webhosting product, but am unable to use Let's Encrypt.

In that case the configuration of your New Webhosting package may not be entirely correct. Please contact our customer support for more information.
