When you register a .de domain name, you are obliged to enter a German postal address for the regsitrant or administrative contact of the domein. In case you don't have a German address, you will be able to use our so-called 'Trustee Service'.
The Trustee Service is an add-on that allows for registering a domain name if you do not meet this requirement for a specific region or country. It uses a physical address of a trusted legal person in the registrant details to comply with the rules of the registry.
When you would like to transfer you domain to a new provider, we can no longer offer you this service and therefore it is noecessary to update the administrative contact to your own German address. In case this is not possible, you can ask your new provider for their Trustee Address so you can use this.
You can do this yourself by logging in to your Control Panel. As soon as you have logged in to the control panel, you can take the following steps:
Log in to your controlepaneel, navigate to the 'Domain & Hosting' tab and click your domain name on the left.
Scroll down on the right side of the page. You'll find your transfer code under 'Authorization Code', but for security reasons it will be shown as ••••••• . Click the eye icon to show the authorization code.
After you have changed the registrant or administrative contact to a new German address we will be able to generate the transfer code for you. You can inform our support team about this by sending them a message from your control panel.
