Changing the registrant's email address of a .BE domain name

The registry of .BE domain names (DNS.be) regularly performs checks on the validity of WHOIS data of .BE domain names. If the WHOIS data of your .BE domain name is incorrect or incomplete, the registry will inform you using the email address you've listed in the registrant information of your .BE domain name.

If for some reason that email address is no longer working, the registry will not be able to contact you about incorrect or incomplete WHOIS data. If the WHOIS data of your .BE domain name is incorrect or incomplete and this data isn't updated in time, the registry may decide to revoke the domain name. Therefore, we recommend keeping the email address in the registrant information of your .BE domain name up to date at all times.

This article explains how to view and edit the registrant information of your .BE domain name inside your control panel.

Editing the registrant information in your control panel

Visit your control panel and head over to the tab 'Domains & Hosting'. Select your domain name on the left hand side (don't check the box).

Next, click on the cog wheel next to 'Your domain contact information'. You will see an overview of the WHOIS data of your .BE domain name.

Now check if the information on this page is correct en edit the information if required. If the name or company name of the registrant is incorrect, make sure the current email address is correct. If that's not the case, only change the email address of the registrant first. Click 'Save' to save the changes.

When requesting a change of the registrant's name or company name, an authorization code is sent to the current registrant's email address. This authorization code is necessary to complete the name change. If the registrant's email address is unavailable, you will not be able to receive the authorization code required for the name change.

After saving the registrant's email address, you will be brought back to the 'Domains & Hosting' page. A notice should appear, stating the contact change is being processed. The contact change is complete when the notice is gone.

If desired, you can now change the registrant's name or company name of your .BE domain name. Take note that the Belgian registry charges you for changing the registrant's name or company name. We pass on these costs to you.

Changing any other information than the registrant's name or company name is free of charge.

Make sure you are on the 'Domains & Hosting' page and check the box next to your .BE domain name. Click on 'Change registrant details'. Edit the name or company name here and click on 'Save'. Confirm the costs for the name change on the following pages to request the name change.

An authorization code will now be sent to the registrant's email address. Once you've received the code, head back over to 'Domains & Hosting' and select your domain name on the left hand side (don't check the box). Now click on 'Supply authorization code' and enter the code to complete the name change.
