The nameservers of a domain name basically state which DNS records should be used. When using the TransIP nameservers, the DNS records inside your control panel will be active. If you use external nameservers, the DNS records will be active in those nameservers instead.

This article shows you what the TransIP nameservers are and how to configure them in your control panel.

Configuring the TransIP nameservers

Unless you've configured different default nameservers, each new domain registration will use the TransIP nameservers by default. As mentioned, using the TransIP nameservers means the DNS records in your control panel will be active for your domain name.

You can find the configured nameservers of your domain name inside your control panel. From here, go to the tab 'Domains & Hosting' and select your domain name on the left hand side (don't check the box). 

Next, scroll down a bit. Do you see 'Domain settings'? In that case, the TransIP settings are active. This means your domain name automatically uses the TransIP nameservers. If you wish to configure other nameservers, disable the 'TransIP settings' on the right hand side. The page will reload and 'Advanced domain settings' will become visible.

If you see 'Advanced domain settings', scroll a bit further down to 'Nameservers'. 

Below 'Nameservers' you will see the active nameservers for your domain name. In the image above you can see we are using the TransIP nameservers.

If you wish to edit your nameservers, make sure you delete the current nameservers and add the new nameservers afterwards. Hit 'Save' once you're ready.

Previous TransIP nameservers

Starting October 2018, we replaced the previously used TransIP nameservers with the abovementioned nameservers. This is done to provide our nameservers in a more consistant and redundant manner.

Before October 2018 you may have used a combination of the following nameservers:

• ns0.transip.nl
• ns2.transip.nl
• ns1.transip.net
• ns2.transip.net
• ns0.transip.eu
• ns1.transip.eu
• ns0.transdns.eu
• ns1.transdns.eu
• ns2.transdns.eu
• ns0.transip.be
• ns1.transip.be
• ns2.transip.be
