How long will it take to transfer my domain name?

When you request the transfer of a domainname with us, we submit this to the appropriate registry which depends on the TLD of your domainname. Different registraties have different transfer times. These times can differ depending on the TLD of the domainname that you are trying to transfer.

A lot of well known TLD's such as for example ..nl, .be are transferred directly provided you enter the correct autorisation code. The transfers of some TLD's such as .com, .net, .info and .org, however, require a longer time to complete. This is due to the processing time by the registries of those TLDs. We have no control over the transfer time in these cases.

We have listed the transfer time for some of the most well known TLD's here:

  • .nl, .be, .eu, .de, .nu: The transfer is processed right away as long as you enter the correct autorisation code
  • .co.uk, .uk: The transfer is processed right away as long as the registrar-tag at the current registrar is changed after requesting the transfer in our domain checker.
  • .fr: The transfer time depends largely on your current provider. Depending on the actions of your current provider the transfer can be processed immediately or it can take up to a maximum of 22 days. Click here for more information
  • .es: The transfer is processed immediately after it is confirmed by the administrative contact of the domain name
  • .amsterdam: The transfer will take up to a maximum of 7 days after it is confirmed by the administrative contact of the domain name
  • .tv: The transfer will take a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 2 weeks after it is confirmed by the administrative contact of the domain name
  • Generic TLD's such as .com, .net, .org, .info: The transfer will take up to a maximum of 7 days after it is confirmed by the administrative contact of the domain name

Be aware:

  • The transfer times mentioned are dependent on succesfully following the steps of the transfer procedures of the different TLD's. For more information about the specific procedure to transfer your domainname, click here.
  • After a domain name has been succesfully transferred, it can take up to a maximum of 24 hours before the new DNS settings of your transferred domain name are processed by all nameservers on the internet.
  • The transfer of a domainname with a generic TLD such as .com, .net, .org, .info will only succeed if the domain name is at least 60 days old after the last transfer, ownerchange or the registration of the domain name. For more information about this, click here.
